Rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in early July, 2017

This trip was organized by the National Center for Science Education (NCSE) to compare the geological facts of how the Grand Canyon was formed to the mythology of 'young earth creationists.' There are also videos, with lots of splashes!

Day 7 A cidada on a branch. We heard these along the whole trip, even from the middle of the river, but they were particularly loud at this stop.

Day 7 My ankles and feet have swelled up because of the heat, probably over 100-degrees every day. They were back to normal a couple of days after leaving the canyon.

Day 8 We landed at Diamond Creek about 10 am, unloaded the gear and watched the rafts being loaded for transport back upstream to Lee's Ferry.

The next day, monoon rains pour into the canyon near sunset as seen from the North Rim. We were lucky to not have any rain on our trip!
