From Munich, we drove southwest 80 miles to see the Neuschwanstein Castle. This was our first sighting of it, from the parking lot.
Right next to it is the Hohenschwangau Casle.
You hike up a steep road from the parking and souvenir shops to get to the castle. This was our first good view on the walk up.

We can see more of it as we get closer.

Now we're right next to it.

We were early for our tour, so we hiked a bit to see what there was to see. There's a bridge where you can get a great view of the castle. Unfortunately, there was a great line to get to it and we didn't have that much time!

Back at the castle, you can see the bridge that gives the best view.

Hohenschwangau Castle from Neuschwanstein Castle. We weren't alllowed to take photos inside the castle.

Horse-drawn carts were available for people who didn't want to make the climb to the castle on foot.

Time for lunch!

In the afternoon, we went to a beer garden.

Munich and Neuschwanstein are in the province of Bavaria. The members of the band wear traditional Bavarian garb.
Some of the other participants also put on their Bavarian best!

We had dinner next to a wetland preserve not far from the Bavarian beer garden.
